About the event
Guiding a yoga practice with the mindset of a beginner, can be daunting and challenging.
Additionally, leading a one-on-one session or a small private group setting, without a clear direction can also seem overwhelming.
Set aside some time to learn techniques for preparation and teaching in these situations. Develop a dialogue with other instructors, with the intention of learning, growing and serving our community.
In this course, plan to:
learn techniques from Dr. Nathan Mann, DO (family medicine), as well as your fellow instructors, Erin Mann and Maggie Olds on how to take a general body scan, and what can be seen with the “naked eye” (e.g. shoulders, hips, back, feet, neck, different builds) and how those postural tendencies/misalignments might be present or can be supported in yoga practice
incorporate the 'yoga' why's into practical daily moments
feel confident using--and teaching others to use--various props and household spaces to support themselves and their practice
build competence and confidence with adjusting and modifying traditional studio class elements into accessible alternatives for different ages, body types, injuries, mobilities and more
consider basic teaching etiquette and responsibilities, including: safety, liability, preparation, policies and overall professionalism
prepare and plan sample structures and work with other instructors to develop them into your own toolkit(s)
We will decide as a group to schedule an optional date to meet for feedback on sample class structure/plans which will be developed individually. We can record this session for those unable to attend.
Prior to attending this session, attendees are asked to attend TWO of Yoga Connect's Where to Start classes on Saturday's at 11:15am (one should be practiced as a student, and one should be observed)j. Please pre-register for these (discount available upon request).
Registration is $175
**EARLY BIRD pricing of $150 available through 4/1
(Early Bird pricing includes your (2) Where to Start sessions)
