About the event

As women, how can we utilize different modalities to understand our bodies?
How can we feel more empowered and learn to trust our own bodies?
How can we advocate for our health in a more meaningful and productive manner?

Join Rachel Redmond, Dr. Andrea Herrst , & Maggie Olds on a journey back to YOU!

This one day women's informational retreat is designed to help us address some of these challenges and more. It will focus on providing some basic understanding of the female body--exploring its differences and similarities to male bodies. Our providers will introduce concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), manual and chiropractic medicine, and visit historical perspectives on women's health. Attendees will enhance their understanding of basic anatomy and menstrual cycle patterns, and learn more about hormonal health with an introduction into supporting our own body changes. Our providers will also offer advocacy suggestions and techniques for healthcare settings. Students will also build community through small group activities and discussions. We will open and close the session with short movement and breathing practices to foster our mind-body connection.

Meet your Facilitators!

Rachel Redmond, DOM, MSOM, LAc is a board-certified (NCCAOM) acupuncturist and functional medicine practitioner with advanced training in women’s health, hormones, fertility, and stress-related conditions. She holds a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner through the Ayurvedic Institute, and has completed advanced Functional Medicine training with The Kalish Institute and The Institute for Functional Medicine.

I’ve witnessed so many women search for the elusive elixir of health without realizing that we have access to it every day of our lives.
When it comes to women’s health, prevention of disease, and longevity, I draw from the ancient principles of Eastern Medicine and functional medicine lab testing to identify and address the root cause of my client’s health issues and restore the body and mind back to optimal health. -Rachel Redmond

Dr. Andrea L. Herrst, DC, a holistic chiropractic physician with eighteen years of experience, is dedicated to helping women move smoothly through the world. At the heart of her practice is a deep expertise in chiropractic care and manual manipulation, focusing on the alignment and mobility of the spine and joints to improve your posture and musculoskeletal function.

As an Advanced Practice Therapist in Mayan Abdominal Therapy, Dr. Herrst offers specialized, hands-on support for pelvic health, mid-life transitions and postpartum recovery—whether you are months or even years beyond pregnancy. She prioritizes caring listening and avoids "cookie-cutter" treatments, instead taking the time to hear your unique story to create a personalized plan for your whole-person wellness. Through her integrated approach, she partners with you to achieve optimal health and a grounded sense of well-being.

Doctor first, specialties second. -Dr. Andrea Herrst

Maggie Olds owns our host studio, Yoga Connect Lansing. After completing her first yoga training certification in 2013, she began teaching and quickly realized more training was necessary. She received a second 200-hour certification in 2016 and became passionate about sharing and continuing to learn about this ancient, yet still relevent practice. The current studio opened in 2018, under the MI Hot Yoga group of studios. When the Covid pandemic hit, the studios separated and the Yoga Connect 'brand' was born. Around that time, Maggie also began her quest toward a 500 hour certification, a 300-hour training with Citizen Yoga in the Detroit area. This certification was completed in 2022. She is a co-lead instructor for the Yoga Connect Teacher Training programs, which certify instructors at both the 200 and 300 hour levels.

Walking in faith isn't about pushing harder; it's about letting your values lead so you remember how to move in alignment to yourself. -Maggie Olds
