About Davia Downey:

Davia’s yoga journey began in 2002 when she took her first yoga class at the Ann Arbor School of Yoga in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her original teacher, Laurie Blakeney, was a student of Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, the father of Iyengar Yoga. After graduate school, she took the leap and earned her RYT-200 designation at Salt Yoga under the tutelage of Toni Thomas in East Lansing, Michigan. She is currently working on her RYT-300 designation at MindBody Haus in Memphis, Tennessee.

Her style of yoga focuses on alignment, building flexibility, gaining strength, and ensuring that students find their inner tapas (discipline) whenever they come to the mat. She has experience teaching Ashtanga, Hot Vinyasa, Restorative, and Rocket Yoga. Over the years, she has taken many yoga enrichment courses from renowned Ashtanga and Vinyasa instructors, including Kino MacGregor, David Swenson, Manju Jois, Greg Tebb, Ahmed Jabil-Nash, and Davina Davison. Through these experiences, she has learned techniques to improve and deepen her own practice and loves sharing these teachings in the classroom.
