About the event

Do you work with others in the 'movement world' and often hear phrases like, "I've injured my rotator cuff and have limited mobility," "Every time I finish yoga class, my low back hurts," or "My hips just can't do that."?  Having a general understanding of these parts of the body, how they move, work and how to support them is imperative when working with people in a physical or fitness setting.  Learning both how to prevent, but also to rehabilitate and support these areas of our bodies can keep us active, mobile and flexible.

This event will help yoga and fitness instructors, occupational therapists and other body workers to serve clients.  This session in partcular will focus on hips, shoulders and lower back challenges. Dr. Andrea Herrst will provide an overview of basic anatomy and some biomechanics of 'loading'.  We will also discuss injury prevention and prioritize practical examples with role playing and group work sessions.  Demonstrations and physical yoga practices will also put practicality into our information and discussion.

While the event will focus on the viewpoint of the teacher/supporter of clients, anyone seeking better understanding in these body areas is welcome and encouraged to join us!  You will receive all course materials, light snacks, water, tea and a couple of free bonus gifts.

Early Bird pricing before 1/25 is $199  ($225 after that date)

Friday 2/23 session 5:30-8:30pm

Saturday 2/24 session 1-4pm

This course is eligible for Continuing Education through Yoga Alliance and is considered to be one of our Prop & Function courses (one of our 300 hour teacher training program required courses).
